Rufus Gifford, the U.S. ambassador to Denmark, addresses employees and guests at Novo Nordisk’s 170,000-square-foot facility in West Lebanon on Wednesday. In a news release, the Bagsvaerd, Denmark-based health care company said the event was designed to showcase its “commitment to maintaining a site in this rural community while ensuring a future medicines supply for serious diseases like hemophilia and growth disorders.” Novo Nordisk acquired the West Lebanon site from Olympus Biotech in 2014, preserving more than 100 manufacturing jobs. The company said it plans to have a workforce of 150 by the end of 2016. Other speakers at Wednesday’s event included Lars Gert Lose, Denmark’s ambassador to the U.S., Jesper Hoiland, executive vice president at Novo Nordisk, and Lebanon’s mayor, Georgia A. Tuttle.
